Survive and Thrive

 The Survive and Thrive Program

The Survive and Thrive program is designed to enable your organization to quickly and effectively respond to the dramatic changes we're experiencing in today's business environment.

In developing the program, we recognized that not every organization has the same needs.  We have designed the Survive and Thrive program to accommodate these differences.  You may decide that you can benefit from the entire program, or you may need only a single module. We will customize the program to meet your requirements.

The Survive and Thrive program is not just training - it is a blend of training, facilitation and coaching.  Many have found that training alone falls short of accomplishing their goals.  Training may provide information and tools, but we take that a step further, by helping you put the information and tools to immediate use.  We then help you monitor your results.  Here is a description of each of the Survive and Thrive workshops:

 Surviving and Thriving Through Change

The impact that change may have on your company’s productivity is significant, and your staff’s reception and ability to embrace change is critical to maintaining your productivity.  Using the illustration "The Process of Transition", we discuss the impact of change to individuals and the stages they typically work through to reach acceptance.  This is followed by a discussion of the professional and personal impact of stress along with strategies for effective stress management. We present a model that can help you in managing your changes, including engaging and mobilizing your staff, designing your future and developing and implementing your action plans.

This module is 3 hours in length.  We optionally provide individual stress assessments along with one hour of coaching for each participant in which we focus on managing stress in times of change.

Planning for the Future

To plan for the future, begin where you are today.

The stressors created by recent events in the business world manifest themselves through behaviors, performance and employee relations.  These stressors may result in a significant cost to the business. We help you to identify these stressors, create a stress roadmap to understand their impact, develop a communication plan to reduce stress, develop and schedule stress interventions, and evaluate results.

In addition, we can help you with business scenario planning, in which potential future scenarios are identified and assessed, and strategies are developed for each probable scenario along with risk identification and mitigation.

We also assist you in identifying what your competitors may be doing to respond to these challenges, and what you need to do to stay ahead of the game.

This workshop is provided in 2 sessions, each two hours in length.

Identifying and Developing Leadership Talent

Do you know who the leaders are in your company?  They may not all be in leadership roles today. Furthermore, your leadership roles may be changing.  Using the ThinkWise competency selection process, we can help you to identify the key competencies your company needs now to survive and thrive in this difficult business environment.  We can then help you to assess your talent based on these competencies.  You can review their assessments for gaps and create action plans that will enable them to rapidly develop these competencies to assure their success.  The ThinkWise competencies link to a helpful development tool:  ThinkBox, that provides just-in-time training in each competency.

Introduction to the competency selection process with your leadership team is two hours in length. The competency selection is performed individually online by your leadership team.  The results are then compiled and presented to your leadership team in a one-hour session where the results are discussed and the key competencies critical for your success are agreed upon.  Individual assessments of your current leaders and prospective leaders are then performed online by their managers.  The results of the individual assessments are compiled.  From these results, you can compare and contrast your talent, more easily identifying your key leadership candidates and targeting them for specific roles and/or further development.

Engaging the Organization

Leaders' Assessment of Employee Engagement

Many organizations conduct employee satisfaction/engagement surveys today. And many organizations develop plans for addressing the issues identified in these surveys.  However, through our executive coaching experience, we have learned that few actually follow through with their plans.  We have also learned that executives often have differing perceptions of the state of employee engagement within their organizations.

This is a 3-hour workshop focused on discussion of the results of our proprietary Leader's Assessment of Employee Engagement to be conducted with your organization's leadership team prior to the workshop.  This assessment measures their perceptions of your organization's level of employee engagement on 24 critical dimensions.  The workshop provides a forum for your executives to compare and contrast their perceptions and to reach agreement on actions that they will take to effectively raise the level of employee engagement within your organization.  A second 3-hour workshop may be scheduled to develop a detailed action plan to assure follow-through on their agreement.

Coach to Succeed

Does your organization have managers who are finding this role a bit more challenging than they thought it would be - especially in these difficult economic times?  Many managers have asked us this question:

What is the secret to success as a manager?

Managers cannot be successful alone.  Their success depends on everyone around them - their own manager, their colleagues, and most of all, the people who work for them.   The secret to their success is to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships, especially with their staff.

We help your managers to do just that in our “Coach to Succeed” program.  We have coached dozens of managers and many of these managers, recognizing the value that coaching provided to them, have in turn adopted and applied our coaching techniques.  Combined with their performance management skills, they were able to lead their staff to higher levels of engagement and significant performance improvement.

In this 4-hour workshop, we will introduce your managers to our coaching tips, tools and techniques … and we will give them the opportunity to try coaching using actual scenarios from your own environment - because the best way to learn how to coach is to experience it.

Careers in Progress

In these unsettling times, staff are even more concerned about their career futures. Careers in Progress is designed to help your staff make the most of their capabilities in this difficult business climate, recognizing that their jobs or roles may change. We begin by helping your staff identify their skills and abilities.  We then help them to perform a Career Risk Analysis, discussing future career scenarios and enabling them to identify several possibilities that would be good options for them.  In Career Scenario Planning, they identify the prerequisites and skill requirements for each of these possibilities, comparing them with the skills they have today, and discussing what they can do to further develop in preparation for opportunities.

This workshop is two sessions, each two hours in length.  In addition, we provide one hour of coaching per participant to help them develop and implement a career action plan.

Careers on Pause

If it is necessary for you to downsize, Careers on Pause provides the tools and support that staff leaving your company will need to conduct an effective job search.  Careers on Pause includes effective networking techniques, resume and cover letter writing, job applications and posting, job interviewing, personal budgeting and stress management.

This workshop is two sessions, each two hours in length. In addition, we provide three hours of personal career coaching for each participant.
